Durston is proud to be the only manufacturer of round rolling mills. The DMR R150RE Rolling Mill creates circular wire forms through 18 rounded forming grooves with a roller length of 150mm. After rolling the rounds there will sometimes be a fin on either side of the wire. This can be avoided or reduced by opening up the rolls slightly and turning the wire 90 degrees each time you make a pass. The mill is constructed from one piece of cast iron for maximum rigidity and strength. The bearings are self-lubricating and maintenance-free and fully support the induction hardened rollers. The rolls have eighteen rounds. Groove sizes are from 1mm to 10mm. The rolls themselves have a diameter of 60mm. This mill provides direct drive a gearbox and side extensions.
Notes on Round Wire Rolling
The grooves in the rolls are ideal for reducing and shaping wire, though they will not form a perfectly round profile when fully closed. The final shape may vary slightly, and a small fin can sometimes appear on either side. This can be reduced by opening the rolls a little and turning the wire 90 degrees between passes. For a precise round finish, many users choose to follow with a drawplate.
